![]() Note: I have no idea if wiring a dimmer after the timer is allowed by code but I don't see any reason it would cause a safety issue. ![]() Connect the load side of the dimmer to the wiring going to the outdoor lights. In its place, connect the line side of the dimmer. Disconnect the wire from the load side of the timer that goes to the outside lights, leaving the indoor lights connected. You'll need to make room for the dimmer, either combine other switches or add another box or something. Make sure to use a dumb dimmer, just a slide or rotary control, and make sure it's rated for LED loads. However, if there is only one wire going to all of the lights, you will have to pull new wiring. This depends on the wiring in the switch box but if the switched side of the timer goes to two wires, one to the indoor light and one to the outside lights, it should be doable. controlling Hue bulb), needed to be in app and count to 50.How hard it would be top install will depend on the exact wiring but I don't see why you couldn't wire in a dumb (non-smart) dimmer after the switch on the switched hot wire to the outdoor lights. I had read only PICO's needed as the dimmer (i.e. I will have well over 100 total devices, but was my understanding only the dimmers and wall plugs would count (I'll have 40 of those), as those are the only things I need in the app. Caseta Smart Lighting Single-pole/3-way Smart with LED Decorator Light Dimmer Starter Kit with Smart Hub with Wall Plate, White. This will really suck if all the devices hit the 50 number. Skylark Single-Pole/3-Way LED Slide Light Dimmer Switch, White. So if you are saying to delete the dimmer from the app, I assume, it too will lose all of its functionality. When I deleted those from the app (I dont need app control since I have control of tethered dimmer), they no longer function. This makes no sense, I never added any PICO's to the app, I only added dimmers to the app, and the picos show up under "my home" on their own. Have both the dimmer and Pico(s) in the app, where each device counts as an address towards the 50 device limit. ![]() Remove the dimmer from the app and only operate it from the Pico(s).Ģ. Once the dimmer has been added to the Caseta app, it will no longer be controllable by a Pico unless that Pico has also been added to the app.ġ. PS - I assume Pico remotes tethered to a dimmer don't count towards the 50 device limitation? Note: When your LED bulb exceeds 350W power, the outdoor dimmer switch may be in self-protection condition due to high power, which will reduce the brightness of your bulb. Are you running dimmers or on/off in hallway? I guess the question is what is advantage to on/off for lights, maybe there isn't one? Lastly, my kitchen chandalier has (30) 25W bulbs, so 750W, wife doesn't want LED on this fixture, any Caseta option above 600w? And since switches are the same price, I was thinking of running dimmers all around and relocating the on/off to a bathroom.Īre you guys running dimmers all around or just interior? Also, and I'm sure its a simple budget question, do you have bath exhaust fans on Caseta or just a traditional toggle? We have 6 bathrooms so that's another $300, but I need to order wall plates and figure now is the time to do it. ![]() I like how the porch slowly turns on, and while I can't imagine a scenario I would need to, I can always dim porch lights if needed. ![]() But my home is older and the porch required no neutral, so I did a dimmer on the porch and a on/off on the garage lights. I figured I would do a Caseta switch (on/off) for my porch/garage exterior lights, so I never ended up with partially dimmed exterior lights. ![]()
